This is the first ever guitar lesson for the ‘greatest Pinoy band’ (subject for discussion and debate :D) – The Eraserheads. They are even considered by many as The Beatles of the Philippines. We’ll if you’re both an Eheads and Beatles fan, you will definitely agree.

Anyway, Kaliwete is the third track of the Ehead’s fifth studio album called “Sticker Happy”. Check out the track list of that CD at the bottom of this post.

For the lesson, let’s get it on!

How to Play Kaliwete

The riff utilizes the classic rock and roll shuffle lick or could be the major pentatonic scale. Basically, each chord starts with the root note and followed by the notes associated with the scale.

The intro for this song is completely and A major chord (scale)

The verse for this song has the A major chord and the D major chord. The image below is the tablature for the verse.

How to Play the Intro Riff

Intro starts with the open A string but it would be better to just do the A major chord (open position) and pluck (pick) the notes A, E and A (third string).

The forth note would be the F# note on the 4rth string then the A note in 3rd string back to F# then to E (descending)

Repeat twice or 3x and that’s basically the intro.
